Cheers...

So we’re coming to the end of May and starting the second half of 2008. As of this moment I’m “in between jobs”, my car is paid off and I have my survival funds thanks to good old Bush. Gotta say May was a good look for Uncle, socially speaking. For anybody who read my last entry way back in January, I was holding down my role as “wingman”. Well, this year has seen Uncle start the game as oppose to coming off the bench. Even better than that, just growing to a place of comfort so far as my place in life-I’m still in the “starving artist” lane but I’m navigating it better.

Since getting that gorilla off my back called a car payment it’s allowed me to deal with other bills better. Of course now that I’m “in between jobs”; that could present a problem. The printshop has been a great experience; it’s given me the creative outlet I’ve always wanted in a 9-to-5. Shout out to Joe-he’s the boss and mentor. He’s an admitted jerk but hey-within the time I’ve been there I’ve picked up a lot on the screen printing industry. Work has since dried up and he had to let me go albeit temporarily. He’ll bring me back on as circumstances improve. In the meantime I have worked at another printshop for awhile. The cool thing about that was the job searching and interviewing. For the first time in my life I went in to those interviews with the chest out and my dick rock hard (TMI). I know my shit; I know what I bring to this place. Hit the floor running? I hit the ground driving-nigga when do I start! That was the attitude I had.

But they too had to let me go because they have a loyalty to their artist they had hired before me. So I continue on with the hunt all the while still putting in time at Joe’s when it makes itself available. I keep myself actively creatively; doing a freelance job here and there or just an idea that might’ve struck me. I’ve completed my 34th trip around the sun and I’m just like-hey, you got your favorite watering hole, got my cousin and Zoe to kick it with from time to time. Doing my thing with the art and design, I know my purpose. For years I did what was expected, taking on jobs I particular didn’t care for to make ends meet. Still will if I have to but now I know that since getting a foot in with the screen printing. It just feels right-this is what I’m suppose to be doing, or this is part of something bigger I’m suppose to be doing.

Stay tuned,
Uncle
